Lack of incentive to blog. It must be because uni's started and the workload just puts me out of everything else, including work, going out, and... everything else ._. Parents are off to Japan and Hong Kong for a few days to enjoy and relax while placement starts for me.. this week.

I'm actually two weeks or so behind in my blogging, so in an attempt to catch up to the present, I shall post an entry, but don't expect much  ^^''

From Week 9, 2010
This colourful palette of dips is from The Sultan's Table, Newtown. RL and SR came back from their exchange program in Japan and MS is going to Orange for further studies, so this was our high school reunion plus goodbye as we each go our separate ways. It really has been 5 years since we graduated... hm...

From Week 9, 2010
Bread to go with the dips. There weren't nearly enough bread to finish the dips, and quite a few of them actually tasted awful. In particular, the green one.... parsley =( some said celery, some said parsley... I actually like celery, so it has to be parsley to taste that bad. The red and yellow "crayola", as MH aptly coined it, were the nicest, though I have no idea what flavor they actually are. Bread was super soft and fluffy~

From Week 9, 2010
Starters- a mixture of cabbage roll, stuffed vine leaves, stuffed capsicum and salad leaves. Not really my thing, there's a strange sourness to everything... or maybe it's just me.

From Week 9, 2010
Right, you probably can't see anything from this photo, all the meat is covered by the yoghurt on top, but I must say, this was what I enjoyed the most. I can't place the name of this dish with the menu, but it is a dish of thinly sliced meat with soft spongey cake-like bread at the bottom, covered with yoghurt. Very nice =)

From Week 9, 2010
Pide- spinach and cheese I think. Got too full, everyone else asked for boxes and took it home with them.

From Week 9, 2010
Mixed grill- combination of Adana, shish lamb and shish chicken kebabs, salad and bread.

From Week 9, 2010
Dessert- I can identity baklava and kadayif... don't know what the other two are. I'll just be ignorant and call them syrup soaked pastries with pistachios and other fillings inside.

I read on eatability that some people had problems with rude service... whereas others say the service is good. Apparently, the rude ones just cook and do takeaway orders- less dealing with customers, so if you talk to one of them, that's your misfortune =P Then there are the waiters, who are the nicer and friendly ones. MS called them to book a table for us, because with 14 people on a Saturday night, there's  no way we'd get let in without a booking. She got super pissed off from talking to a rude person who told her they were busy and to hold. Held for 10 minutes +... and she was using her mobile phone. She hung up fuming without booking a reservation.

Tt tried next. Called when they weren't busy after dinner time, and managed to reach someone who was nice and polite. No problems taking the reservation at all.

Moral? Who cares about the service, just go for the food. You don't see good service in a lot of Chinese restaurants, but that doesn't mean the food isn't good. Food is what matters!! (If you want good service and people bowing all over you, go to Japan).

Pleasant service and environment helps the food go down better though. When long-faced waiters slam plates and cutlery on the table and stride off without a word, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth which is tough for the food to cover up :|

Japan's great for the service! Just gotta remember to ask for the check! Not the biru.... So guilty~

Their attitude will only get to you if you expected the customer service to be good in the first place =P less expectation= greater happiness~

Japan... I wonder what they did with all that beer. Throwing them out would be such a waste, there must have been at least 3L of beer poured out...

Possibly more than 3L judging by the size of the mugs. And there were a lot of us...
Maybe the staff all had a big round of drinks after we left.

Hello YW!! Hope you had a wonderful wedding!! =D

The dips... well, most of them are good, it's really up to personal tastes- if you like parsley, the parsley dip is very strong, so you'll like it. Worth a try next time you go to Newtown~

thanks thanks .. :) Wedding went well! Just didn't like the weather on that day that's all haha..

don't think I'll like parsley too. Basil I can handle, not so sure about parsley and definitely not celery or coriander :p

Parsley sounds good. Corriander would be great too... Was there a beetroot dip? That's usually good. Same with sundried tomato. That's the usual dips that I know of..

The pink crayola one is beetroot- the best there. Coriander and parsley... *shudder* stay away... I think there was hommus and chilli dip, which was actually quite spicy surprisingly... none of the sweet chilli stuff ppl usually serve.

hommus should be the 1 between the orange and the green I think .. the yellowish colour 1 ... only had beetroot dip once.. can't remember much .. favourite is cucumber and mint I think.. hehee..
